Am I A Candidate For Sedation Dentistry?

It is estimated that 75 million people in the United States have some degree of dental fear. The severity may range from a mild needle phobia to a full blown post-traumatic stress disorder. If anxiety is causing you to avoid regular dental care, sedation dentistry is a good option for you.

Other people that also can benefit from sedation dentistry are patients that have a severe gag reflex. These patients may not be fearful, but avoid going to the dentist because they are simply unable to tolerate having a dental cleaning or taking x-rays. Some of the sedatives used can aid in suppressing the gag reflex and make getting the necessary treatment easier.

The third group of patients are those who just don't have enough time or need a lot of work. One of the greatest benefits of sedation dentistry is the ability to complete more treatment in one sitting, rather than having to return to the dental office for multiple appointments.

If any of these situations apply to you, contact us to schedule a complimentary sedation consult. 617-232-7399 info@mybostondentist.net
